11 telcos and 3 major consumer advocacy groups have united to oppose the Government's plan for a new ultra-fast broadband network.

In an open letter to MPs, the groups state they are worried about the lack of competition, the creation of a monopoly and skyrocketing prices.

Signatories include Vodafone, 2degrees, Telstraclear and Consumer New Zealand.
