A pending decision by the Commerce Commission on whether there will be an inquiry into retail milk prices is of interest to many families.
Public concern over high milk prices came to a fore in April this year. Milk companies were accused at the time of inflating their wholesale prices to retailers, who passed on the extra cost to consumers. A resulting survey by Consumer New Zealand found that 79 per cent of New Zealanders believe the Government should hold an inquiry into milk prices and 91 per cent believe that milk prices are far too high.
