Some customers of Fintel – a subsidiary of Tower Insurance – may have had a payment mistakenly charged to their credit card.

We were alerted to this by a complaint from one of our members.

We contacted Tower and were told by Managing Director Rob Flannagan that the mistake was caused by someone testing the system. He assured us that the problem had been dealt with, the money refunded and the system tightened to prevent the problem recurring. He also told us 195 people had been affected, but Tower wasn't sure if it was going to post information on its website.

We’re concerned that customers may have been affected by this error without their knowledge.

If you are a customer of Fintel and pay for your policy with automatic payments from your credit card, check your bank statement to see if you've been affected. If you have, you can contact the Tower complaints team on 0800 808 808 to have the problem resolved.
