Fonterra's bid to reduce household milk prices is being seen as a way to get New Zealanders back on board with the dairy giant.

The company's notified retailers of a reduction in the wholesale price of milk, effective from the end of the month.

Consumer New Zealand's CEO Sue Chetwin says Fonterra's move is sensible because consumers are ultimately driven by price.
