Consumer NZ is partnering with Trade Me and manufacturers of Consumer recommended products to run an online auction to raise funds for the Red Cross Earthquake Appeal.

Consumer NZ Chief Executive Sue Chetwin says "we are delighted with the generous donations we have received from manufacturers which will enable over 60 products from 19 suppliers to be auctioned. We are offering Consumer recommended washing machines, fridges, GPS units, vacuum cleaners, tyres, steam mops, espresso machines and many more items." All funds raised go to the Red Cross Earthquake Appeal.

All that is required to get the auctions underway is a starting bid above the $1 reserve price set on each item. Consumer NZ is encouraging everyone thinking about how they can support Christchurch to get online and get bidding. "You might just also get a great deal at the same time," Chetwin said.

All products offered in the auction are new and they are being provided by leading manufacturers so there are some very good buys to be had.

The Goods for Good auction of the Consumer recommended products runs from Monday 7 March through until Monday evening 14 March. You can find the auction and all the products available on the Trade Me website at www.trademe.co.nz/stores/consumer.
