Consumer New Zealand wants a mandatory standard for natural cosmetics, after finding that many so-called organic skincare products contain synthetic ingredients.

The agency purchased 18 products, which claimed to be natural, from department stores and supermarkets. Chief executive Sue Chetwin says only two of the 18 had recognised eco accreditations.
