Fonterra has reiterated the view of Federated Farmers that if consumers want cheaper milk they must shop around for it.
The managing director of Fonterra Brands, Peter McClure, appeared on Thursday before a Parliamentary select committee investigating the price of milk.
Mr McClure told the Commerce Committee that the dairy co-operative's pricing is fair.
