User reviews

Members can now add their own reviews and ratings for the thousands of products we’ve tested.

If you already own a product we’ve rated, or you’ve bought it based on our advice, you can have your say about how it performs, its good and bad points, and give it an overall rating.

By sharing your experiences and opinions with other members, you can help them decide which product best meets their needs.

How do user reviews relate to Consumer’s ratings and recommendations?

User reviews are a great add-on to our test results. They can offer unique insights about specific models, including features that meet special needs, and durability issues that may not show up in our tests or reliability surveys.

However, while user reviews can be helpful, don't assume they're always unbiased or scientific.

We display user reviews separately from our main ratings and recommendations, so members can differentiate user reviews from our ratings, which are based  on our independent scientific tests and large-scale user surveys.

How do I review a product?

It's easy to add a product review:

  • You need to login to the site: user reviews are a premium feature, so only members can view and add user reviews.
  • Next, navigate to the report covering the product, (eg Digital cameras) and then click on the product name to see the full profile of the product.
  • Click the” User reviews” tab to see reviews by other members
  • Click the “Add review” button to add your own review.
  • You’ll need to enter a title for your review, an overall rating (1-5 stars),  and then any pros, cons and general comments you wish to make.
  • Then simply click the “Submit review” button to publish your review.

What happens next?

When you add a review, it will be published immediately, and will appear with your name as listed in your Consumer account. Alternatively you can choose a "screen name" to display.

Individual user ratings are combined into an overall rating and are displayed  on our product details pages, alongside information about how many individual ratings make up the overall score.

We monitor member contributions such as user reviews, and reserve the right to edit or remove any user reviews which we believe breach our guidelines or Terms & Conditions.

In particular, if you have a commercial or financial interest in a product, you should clearly disclose this as part of any review. See our Community guidelines for more information.

Bought Audi from them. Fully cash payment. Agreed to 12months rego but never commit until i push them to, panel work to the car was covered with a paint brushing job, missing part on drivers seat never contacted for 12months now about the part saying it was ordered from Singapore, Sales person yelled at me when I kept followed up about the above mentioned while the manager was watching. Unfriendly, Unprofessional and would advise professional people to keep away form this type of dictatorship service and hope someone would help me guide in what to do to this type of bad manners and unprofessional service. Offer fraud AA approval stickers. I saw stickers underneath Manager's desk as he pulled out the draw in front of me. Fraud warrant service,-i.e. no date, as approach the company they don't know who did what and sign what form etc. Please keep away.

YATES VEGETABLE POTTING MIX Posted by: Steve Sharman 27 Aug 2009 10:53am

I purchased a raised bed last year and decided I would give the vegetables the best start by purchasing Yates Vegetable Potting Mix. I planted cucumbers, silverbeet, spinach, lettuces. None of them grew and the cucumber shrivelled and died. I suspect that the potting mix is so loaded with nutrients that it locks them in and will not relase them until some of the nutrients have been leached through watering. I base this on the fact that after six months I planted some winter vegetables in the mix and they have grown. This is most annoying and a very expensive way to find out that some of the cheaper varieties of potting mix acutally work a lot better.
