More than 10 years ago we criticised the sales techniques and prices charged for massagers and massage chairs by door-to-door sales company, Niagara Therapy. We're still getting complaints about this company.

Niagara markets a range of massage and other products, many of them with very high prices. These may be able to provide relief to some people, but won't be suitable or effective for others.

If you are interested in Niagara products make sure there's a trial period with a money-back guarantee that's long enough for you to test the product properly. The company isn't obliged to give you a trial period, but we strongly advise against buying any expensive products if no trial period is offered. Get this in writing.

Before you buy, check your options. Some pharmacies and other outlets sell home massage equipment for less than $100.

You have seven days to cancel a door-to-door sale, but only if you signed a credit contract with the seller.

This cooling-off period does not apply to credit-card sales.
