Leaving a heated towel rail on can cost bill payers up to $175 a year in electricity costs.

Spokesman of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, Stuart Ross says that timers are fast and easy to install and can save up to $115 a year.

Chief Executive of Consumer NZ, Sue Chetwin, reinforces the findings by saying that the timer can save you money by switching your towel rail on only when needed.
