Consumer.org.nz has had a major makeover.
As well as a new design, we’ve introduced many great new features to help make finding information easier than ever before. There’s new comparative tools, enhanced product selectors, shopping online and you can connect with other Consumer members.
We look forward to you exploring our exciting new site and welcome your feedback and comments.
If you have any problems logging in see our Login help page or contact our customer services staff by phoning 0800 266 786 between 8.30am and 5.00pm (New Zealand time) Monday to Friday.
Key features of the new site include:
Flyout navigation
Our reports are organised into 12 topic areas listed at the top of your screen and the left-hand side of the homepage. The flyout left-hand navigation on the homepage shows you in more depth the categories and reports you'll find in each section.

Enhanced product selectors
Many of our test reports contain interactive databases of products. Our new product selector tool allows you to easily sort and compare the models in our test databases.

Shop online
A number of products in our test results databases now have the 'shop online' logo. This means you can head directly to an online retailer and buy the product you've chosen.

Have your say
As an online member you can add comments directly to most of our reports and news items, and connect with other members of the Consumer community.

My Consumer
The 'My Consumer' link at the top right of your screen takes you directly to an area where you can easily change your personal details and check out your Consumer community contributions.

Here's what some of them say...
"Just wanted to let you know that I find your site excellent! Easy to find my way around, everything at my fingertips - just a click away.
I only took out a 3 month membership as I wasn't sure but it is actually really easy to use and if I want it on paper I can print the
reports. Thanks again".
Denise Watkinson - Waitakere
"My mother (74) got a renewal letter from her insurance company for her car insurance, wanting $570. After reading
your article on car insurance, I contacted one of the companies you recommended, who quoted her $318 for the same
level of cover. I just wanted to stay thank you very much for your article, as it has saved my mother a substantial amount of money".
Adrian Lane - Kapiti Coast
"I've been a member to the magazine since 1997 and enjoy reading it a lot. I've found lots of helpful information on different issues...
Thank you for being so helpful".
Peter Kovalenko - Porirua
"I have been a member of the Consumer NZ for 20 or more years and have enjoyed much reliable advice.
I turn to their tests before making significant purchases".

Is it intentional that on the new site browser autofill on the (new) login (popup window) isnt working ?
On the old site the login form fields autofilled (username and passwd).
On the new site (after cleared the old entries) browser doesnt seem to recognise login popup as a form and doesnt prompt to save the entered info so autofill on subsequent revisit doesnt work
.
Firefox (3.0.11) and IE 7.0.5730.13(minimally)
Looking at the poor grammatical construction of some of my latest postings in this new system, a self edit function like the old "Discussion Forums" had would be good.
Can all old site intellectual expertise on the old Consumer Discussion Forum be available on some kind or archive?
Hello Ben & the Team, thanks for the great new look and the combined main site/forums. I'm sure the forums will become much more active as a result of this change.
Is there a general or "suggest a topic" forum on the new-look site? For example, if I would like to talk about a subject that is not directly related to one of your existing articles?
Meanwhile I will keep browsing and becoming familiar with the new site. At first glance it looks lovely and clean and functional. Good work. :)
Your SSL certificate is showing up as not being issued by a recognised authority. You may want to get that checked (both Chrome and Safari brought this up when trying to log in)
'fraid not...am feeling a bit cheated even. The old site seemed to have everything on it - this has a lot about heating, heaters, fans, gas, electricity, more heating and more heaters. I'd like info on buying bathroom gear, eg showers but can see nothing at all.
Nor could I find anything on make a will. I did find the third thing I wanted - buying a kettle so thanks for that.
