Last month Consumer magazine reported that nearly 90% of sunbed operators in New Zealand fail to comply with safety and information standards.

Undercover researchers went into 69 outlets in 13 centres across the country, including specialist establishments, fitness centres and hairdressers.

Consumer NZ chief executive Sue Chetwin said just seven met all the voluntary criteria.

"Some of them are doing just about everything wrong, but nearly all of them are doing something wrong," said Chetwin. Read more.
