The problem
The chainsaw is being recalled due to a regulatory requirement introduced on 24 September 2009 requiring all chainsaws sold in New Zealand to be fitted with a manual safety chain brake.

Details
Black & Decker CCS818-XE chainsaw, sold at hardware stores throughout New Zealand from 24 September 2009 to July 2010.

What to do
Call 0800 339258 to arrange the collection of the chainsaw and a full refund. Proof of purchase is required.

Consumers may still use these chainsaws if they wish. However, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs strongly advises that the chainsaws are disposed of and consumers upgrade to a chainsaw with a manual chain brake.
