The problem
The Commerce Commission has issued a warning about 6 children's toys containing extremely high lead levels. Laboratory testing identified migratable lead levels ranging from 105 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) to 28,280 mg/kg. Under a mandatory standard, children's toys must not contain more than 90 mg/kg of lead at a migratable level. 

Details
The following toys are affected:

  • Kinder-Gartengerate-set (gardening set)
  • Combat Mission Gun
  • Bakugan Battle Brawlers
  • Team Quick Stunt Moto (3 bike pack)
  • Action Team Assault Rifle
  • Super Motivity Truck

The Commission has yet to establish how widely the products have been distributed.

What to do
Immediately remove the toys from reach of children. Return the toys to the place of purchase for a refund under the Consumer Guarantees Act or dispose of them.
