What's good about a Mac?

Reliability

Mac desktops regularly lead the way in our computer reliability surveys. In our most recent survey Macs were rated more reliable than any brand of desktop PC. Mac laptops weren't quite as reliable as the desktop models, but were still well above average and better than many PC laptops.

Owner satisfaction

In our latest satisfaction survey, a staggering 99 percent of Apple users said they would buy the same brand again. No other brand of computer has such a loyal following (see graph below). But despite the high profile there aren't that many of them (only around six percent of the worldwide computer market).

Support and repairs

Apple, and Apple reseller Magnum Mac, rated 1st and 3rd respectively for after-sales advice and support in our survey. 

Fewer software issues

Because Apple makes most of the computer hardware and system software itself, the chances of communication problems between the two are reduced. The result is a computer that suffers fewer software crashes and conflicts.

Viruses

PCs are plagued with viruses, spyware and other net-nasties. By contrast, Macs are far less susceptible - partly because of better design, and partly because virus writers tend to target Windows far more than Macs.

Software

New Macs come with a good range of software already loaded  including digital music, movies, photography, and DVD creation applications.

Colour accuracy

Macs have a reputation for providing better colour accuracy between what you see on screen and what is printed. This can be very important for publishing.

The cool factor

Macs have always been more stylish and aesthetically pleasing than their PC counterparts. Mac computers can be found in several different forms and tend to lead the way in innovative and intuitive design.
