I'm a mother who went guarantor for her son so that he could have a phone in his home - he was bankrupt. later he had me go as guarantor for the phone at a change of address - I did not know it was for a different phone company - he hadn't paid the phone and internet account with the previous provider - I was so trusting.............. anyway he went overseas and I had two phone bills - total around $9000 - I'm was 66yrs old at the time this occurred and had no way of paying said bill - so I was bankrupted. My credit rating before I tried to help my son was excellent now - what can I do??? HELP

We have just found out that a kiwi living overseas who has solicited money from investors (with lots of success) was declared bankrupt and has returned to NZ a number of times since. He and his parents are all bankrupt, set up shop overseas and continued to run business without any problem. So it seems you can amass huge debt, petition for bankruptcy go overseas and continue to con.... What the....
