Our 2011 tests of barbecues included roasting a whole chicken using the beer-can method. Here's what we did:
We placed a half-empty can of beer into a special wire holder (available from hardware stores) and inserted this into the chicken’s cavity. We then placed the chicken upright (vertically) on the grill and cooked the chicken at approximately 180°C for one hour.
