Delays in consumer law reform leave Kiwis worse off than Aussies.

Legislation was expected to be introduced into parliament by the end of 2010 to align our consumer laws more closely with Australia's. That didn't happen. And the government has yet to reveal whether legislation is on the programme for 2011.

Amendments to improve consumer laws are overdue: key legislation hasn’t been updated for more than a decade and there are now significant gaps in consumer protection.
