Perhaps we should offer similarly sourced imitation money as payment - Funny how one part of the market can effectively and legally lie and cheat while the end user has to front up with legal tender. In Australia the term "Fresh" has been usurped by the suppliers to mean unprocessed (no matter how old) and "Budget" is another phrase for "Don't know, don't really care what's in the packet" and as for "ice-cream" even the manufacturers won't say what's really in it ( a large portion of chicken and vegetable fats where reported in one outfits "Dairy Product"). The list is endless. Truth in advertising is the bottom line.

Made in China, NO THANKS ! Posted by: Guardian Angel 30 Aug 2009 10:33am

I try avoid ALL food products that are made in china. Why on earth would you buy peanut butter or any food made in a country where even baby food contains plastic and killed thousands of innocent babies.

If you are a company in NZ, selling Chinese food products, I have news for you...keep it.

Watties made in China Posted by: Past member 31 Jul 2009 9:39pm

I was terribly shocked when I looked at the packaging of the Watties frozen vegetables that I had been buying for 30 years and discovered that most of them were made in China. (apart from peas in my local New World)

The only packet of mixed veges, on the day, from NZ was Talleys. I now buy Talleys.

I was telling my friend and she said that I should check carefully in the tinned fruit aisle too. Who knew! I am now preserving pears from NZ bought at Moore Wilsons.

I have been totally sucked in by the marketing and have not been paying attention. I now understand that Watties is NOT a New Zealand food producer anymore.

Its good to know where things come from - then I can make a choice.
