I changed from Mercury engery to Genesis as I would get a better price for the power I used as per your web site. Mercury phoned up and offered to match the price if I stayed with them.
what's wrong with Contact?

I was very surprised to see such a low rating for Contact Energy. We switched to them a year ago from Genesis because of a lower price offer. Also, we recently moved house, and have had them out to see about running gas in from the street. They handled all of these transactions efficiently and the staff has been very helpful and friendly. I am very satisfied with Contact so would be interested in hearing from those who are not - what sorts of problems have you had?
You havetotal control of your electricity needs and costs. The sooner they start selling gas the better.
Third that!

Powershop are easily the best company to have my (and your!) account with. Before choosing Powershop I shopped around some of the other power companies and found that not only would I be stuck on some nonsensical plan, I would also be paying a lot more!
Before we moved into our house, I had budgeted $60+ a week for power alone - despite running the dryer every weekend (damn rain), running a large heated fish tank and various other appliances we are still a good $20 per week lower than my budgeted amount. Not only that, but if my power use suddenly goes up I can spot it immediately via weekly (or whenever I like) meter readings entered on the Powershop website.
I seriously recommend people take a more active approach to managing their power usage - it's not that hard :)
I second that for Powershop

I am a month into my time with Powershop and am laughing all the way to the bank! Meridian sent me a thing the other day trying to get me to change to them because they were going to keep their prices the same for the next couple of years. My per unit pricing with Powershop for the month is already cheaper than Meridian and I have no daily line charge to pay. If I login to their website, I can get specials to keep my power at the absolute cheapest. So far, I have paid an average of 25.90c per unit of power which may seem expensive when you look at the price on your power bill but remember that you don't pay any daily line charge with Powershop, you only pay for the electricity you use. I would recommend Powershop to everyone!
Praise for Powershop

I would NEVER have thought I would EVER become 'evangelical' about my power provider nor have so much fun organising my power supply! I now have access to (real) people, prompt answers to queries/emails, help and assistance on tap, courtesy, good humour and most of all - cheaper power!
I have cut my power bill by more than half in my first month, am on target to do the same for my second month and have recommended Powershop to all my friends and anyone else who will listen! I am absolutely delighted with them as a supplier so much so that I've been moved to add this comment. I cannot praise them highly enough.
