About our test
Coffee-making (60% of overall score) is derived from scores in our individual tests for Taste (3 experts evaluated crema colour and thickness and the coffee's aroma, flavour, mouth-feel and aftertaste), Coffee temperature (4 cups made in a just-warmed-up machine and another 4 in a machine warmed up for 15 minutes) and Temperature range (consistency of temperature across the cups).
Milk-frothing (10% of overall score) is evaluated on froth quality and ease of using the frothing mechanism. Ease of use (30% of overall score) is assessed on convenience of water container and filter, controls, exterior cleaning, and operating the unit.
