Extractor fans: any updates for 2012?

We renovated our bathroom 12 years ago (seems like yesterday) and the extractor fan is starting to struggle. Very noisy, and I wonder what the latest is, are there models that heat and extract? we have shower dome, but still mouldy ceilings in the height of winter.....

How effecient would these be in a sizeable bathroom? Mine has split level in ceiling height and limited area to outside wall to place (which would be my preferrence) south facing. Any recommendations on brand? Can someone tell me whether or not water is trapped and remains in the extractor tube/pipe once switched off? I take it that would have to be laid level to avoid dips and condensation pooling within. Can't wait to read the comparison and recommended report when you get around to it.
Many thanks :)
Showerdome?

hi
Showerdome seem to be advertising heavily at the moment. They claim that installing a showerdome onto your shower cubicle will rid the rest of the bathroom of steam and condensation, (and i assume eliminate the need for extractor fans). Has anyone had any experience with a showerdome? Does consumer have any information on it?
thank you.

Hi.. I have two shower domes installed at home and they are great. They do trap the steam, so the bathroom stays drier. I would prefer a shower dome to an extractor fan in any home.

Looking to install an extractor fan to an outside wall of a family bathroom. The wall is exposed to southerlies. Can anyone recommend a good make and model?
where is the test?

There was a comparative test a couple of years ago - where is that now?
I just rejoined consumers and find they don't have tests anymore?
Whats the point?
Definately need comparison tests. In the process of choosing fans for new build (6 required) have all the Manrose info and even phoned them as I needed to shift air approx 10m. Gave me model no. but it was not even listed or on their website! I'm getting more confused every time I think of it!
No data

I was at Bunnings yesterday looking for an extractor fan but on all the fans i looked at I couldn't find any performance data at all - not one said either air flow rates or motor wattage. Very frustrating!
