Proposed food-labelling rules could cut through the marketing hype.

Fast food chains may have to display the fat content of their products and manufacturers could be made to substantiate their health claims. These are just two of the recommendations made by an independent panel charged with reviewing food-labelling rules here and in Australia.

The panel's report contains 61 recommendations that could make it easier for us to tell what’s in our food, how healthy it is, and where it’s produced. We’re calling on the government to take immediate action on the panel's key proposals.
