Gluten-free-hero

We assessed 36 gluten-free products. Just 1 met all our nutritional criteria.

The number of gluten-free products has more than doubled since 2005. People with coeliac disease – who can't tolerate gluten – may welcome the extra goods on offer. But the marketing of gluten-free as a "healthier" option is also luring a lot of others to these products.

Far from being "healthier", gluten-free foods can be higher in fat, sodium and sugar and lower in dietary fibre.
