• Ease of use (40% of overall score) based on the unit’s ability to acquire a position fix, maintain waypoints and routes, track logging - and on its general usability.
• Signal acquisition (25% of overall score) measured by timing how long it took to acquire a satellite fix under both a clear sky and dense foliage.
• Battery life (15% of overall score) calculated on how many hours the GPS could repeatedly find its position before shutting down.
• Accuracy (10% of overall score) assessed by testing all the devices at precisely charted locations of varying altitudes.
• Waterproofing (10% of overall score) based on a unit’s condition after being submerged in 1m of water for 30 minutes.
