• New Zealand law prohibits the illegal logging of our native forests, but we don't have laws preventing other countries' illegal timber from coming here.

  • It's difficult for consumers to be sure what they're buying. We'd like to see all furniture labelled to show where it's made and what it's made from, so people can make an informed choice and not just rely on "word of mouth".

  • We also think furniture importers have a responsibility to demonstrate that the timber they're importing is legally logged. We don't think it should be left to consumers to ask the hard questions.
