Invited guests over for dinner allowed?

My landlord, who also lives in the property, has said that tenants are not allowed to have guests over for dinner or stay overnight. We are only permitted to have up to two guests over for coffee at any on time. However, this rule is not stated in the tenancy agreement.
Do I have any rights to challenge this rule??

As joint landlords I and my wife are astounded at your landlord's attempts to control your guests' visits.Even if a rule like this was added to your tenancy agreement it would be outside that which is allowable under the Reaidential Tenancies Act and could not be enforced.Call Tenancy Services at 0800 836262 and you will get free advice on how to deal with your landlord.Keep in mind that disturbing the neighbours is not allowed under the act and is part of the agreement.
Please educate your landlord ,he/she is not a good candidate for landlord of the year.
Cheers Robbie
