I am disappointed to see that you have missed out many brands like Sheer cover and Thin Lizzy that advertise heavily on TV.

Jane Iredale Posted by: Clive Holmes 11 Nov 2009 11:10am

Well I'm going to go against the grain here, I have the jane Iredale mineral foundation, use it occasionally but for all day wear I really don't like it!! By the end of a long day in air conditioning it feels like you can just wipe it off the top of your skin - hard to explain, just feels like it's all sitting on top and goes very shiny. I'm not into having a shiny face! (And I have dry skin not oily). I often do sport after work and again I hate how it feels by that hour of the day. Perhaps I need a darker colour so I don't need to apply so much to get the coverage, not sure. Only use it now if I only need it for a few hours and don't want to look like I've got any make-up on. I have gone back to my 'Revlon Colourstay Natural' liquid foundation as it stays on all day and can handle the airconditioning and sport. Not ideal for my skin I know.

i.d Bare Minerals Foundation Posted by: Lisa McMillan 06 Oct 2009 12:42am

I use this product and love it as my skin isn't sensitive to it. The price although on the high side is worth it to me due to my skin no longer reacting. I purchased their specific concealer applicator brush and the coverage and concealment of blemishes and discolouration is the best I have ever seen after many years of trying everything and bonus... its lightweight and doesn't look caked on. I don't use any of their skin primers etc as I use only 100% natural skincare and Bare Minerals goes on and stays on fine. I recommend it to all!

Why didnt you include this product in your test? I know a few people that use this (including myself) and would of been interested to read the results of this product. Sorry but I feel disappointed by this test.

Sheer Minerals & Immersion Cosmetics Posted by: Sookie 02 Oct 2009 10:46pm

I use the loose mineral foundations by both of these companies (they are NZ-based online companies) and they are great! I would recommend either of these as they will go out of their way to find the perfect match for your skin. A decent brush is essential but once you have it you don't need to get another one. I prefer the synthetic as the natural is a bit scratchy on my face. You can customise the coverage to as sheer or full as you like. I do find that either of these two brands is also good for concealing but they do offer separate concealers. Also, make sure that you check the ingredients label as you may be getting other ingredients that you weren't aware of, for example bismuth oxychloride which makes my skin itch like mad.

After trying a few mineral powders over the last 5 years I have found this one to be the best especially as I have sensitive skin so avoid traditional foundations. The use as you go 'grater' means minimal wastage and mess. So even if the price is higher than some of the 'shaker' pots it lasts as you are not getting all over the place.

I have used the ultraceuticals product for some months now, and find it better than an ordinary foundation by far. Also, it wasn't too expensive, though one has to buy the brush separately

I find mineral powder foundation to be very messy. I like it on my skin but most of it ends up around me rather than on me. And since it only comes in tiny (and expensive) pots I feel ripped off.
