Popcorn makers

The popcorn maker was one of the best gadgets I ever bought. When my children were younger and had friends round to watch videos, etc., instead of producing packets of chips we just got this little gadget going, and for a few cents we had a huge bowl of popcorn. It must have paid for itself several times over.
They're not that bad!

We were given a popcorn maker by my in-laws for my kids and its truly been one of our best assets. Its way safer and heaps more fun (they can see the popcorn popping) than the old saucepan. I'll hand it on when they get sick of it and someone else's kids will probably enjoy it just as much as we have.

Agree with review, fun for a while and then just gather dust in the back of the cupboard.
Get an old copy of the Edmonds Cookbook - make something that didn't kill you as a child and probably won't now.
Try baking with your kids instead

I can't see any value to having these items except for novelty or if you really have no idea about what kids like to do.
There's nothing better than mixing up a batch of simple biscuits with your kids and letting them watch them cook in the oven. And pretty economical too especially if you cook a roast or casserole in the heated oven.

Leave the landfill gadgets in the shops - these and the endless useless kitchen gadgets just like them. They only produce this junk because we keep buying them. If you only buy what you really need in the kitchen, then you can afford to buy better quality instead.

That's the word I always think of these days with items like this- landfill. I am sometimes tempted to buy stuff like this for my wee girl but then think why should I buy her a mini sewing machine or a mini mixer when she can actually use the real thing? Surely using the real one is more exciting than a mini one that probably doesn't work as well and makes twice as much cleaning?
