I'm looking at a Power Max Elite series Inverter Generator as a back up for home
model XP2000E. Can anyone tell me what they're like for reliability, where they're made etc.

I have heard of generators that run on Petrol and LPG Gas. Does anyone have any information on these?

I had my whole house wired to take input from a generator. It was inspected and passed by the power company so all I had to do was turn the power switch from Mains to Generator and start it up. I would also switch off the water heating as we had a wetback as well. We have tank water supply so had to have one easily able to take the pump start up load. We found 6KVA was more than enough so we could have used a smaller one provided we didn't switch on the diswasher or washing machine!! We cook with gas.
There was a time when the power went off just a the AB's were about to kick off! I switched over to the generator and only missed the Haka and Anthem.
