For most couples (especially those with children), breaking up has major financial repercussions.
Unless you're in the middle of a break-up, you probably know very little about its financial effects. While the law is designed to be fair, its effect on individuals and families can be far reaching.
Some are plunged into financial hardships they didn't anticipate; others have severe budgeting problems. In most cases, at least one of the parties wishes they'd been better prepared. We look at some of the traps.
