Our survey of online members was carried out during May 2011 and nearly 10,000 people provided us with information on printers they had bought new since January 2006.

We specifically asked about:

  • reliability: whether the printer had been repaired during the previous 12 months
  • satisfaction: whether the owner would buy the same brand of printer again
  • after-sales service: how people rated after-sales service (advice and support as well as repairs).

Reliability data are weighted to take account of the age of the printer.
