With the free version of Flickr, you can organise your photos into a maximum of three groups, or 'sets' as they are called on the website (see www.flickr.com/photos/organize). You can add captions to your pictures, write your own descriptions and even annotate them to draw attention to points of interest.

To do this, click on a thumbnail once. Click Add note above the photo. Place your cursor on the box and hold down the left mouse button. Drag the note into position and expand the box by dragging out one of the corners. Now add your text.

You can do the same to other people's photos, if they have chosen to allow you to do this.

The map feature is useful if your photo collection spans numerous locations as you can drag and drop pictures to the country or area where they were taken.

Click Organize and drag the photos you want to add into the centre of the screen, then click the Map tab.
