Our survey of snack bars found many are high-energy snacks best kept for when you really need the energy.

We bought more than 100 snack bars – muesli bars, cereal bars, muffin bars and nut bars – from supermarkets. We compared what their labels told us about energy, sugar, total fat, saturated fat and fibre content.

14 bars met none of our targets – including two Weight Watchers’ bars.
