Consumers need protection from unfair terms and conditions.

Whether you're joining a gym, renting a car or signing up for broadband, you'll normally be given a pre-written contract setting out the company's standard terms and conditions. Businesses see these contracts as an efficient way to deal with large numbers of consumers, but they're rarely written to favour the consumer and sometimes include terms which are totally unfair.

Unfair terms give the supplier considerably more rights than the consumer and create a huge imbalance in the buyer-seller relationship.
