Damaged Goods Posted by: Alan MacKinven 28 Nov 2011 2:03pm

I recently sent some electronic items via courier to another city.

Then I received a call from the courier company to say that “we are sorry but we have damaged your items in transit – our driver placed a heavy object on top of your parcel and has crushed it”.

So I went through the process of making a claim, and judging by the damage - something extremely heavy was placed on top of my small item.

After 5 or so weeks of chasing the courier company, they finally come back to me declining my claim as they reckon that the item was not properly "internally braced"...

So how can a reputable company call you and say hey, we damaged your item, we made the mistake of crushing it, we will put it right if you follow the claims process. Only to conclude that they think it wasnt braced internally enough for excessive weights to be put on top...So it was my fault that their driver didnt use common sense?

The package was the size of a shoe box.

I dont think that is fair but I would like to hear others comments on this...
