2024 board nominations now open

We’re inviting our members to nominate board candidates.

Are you, or someone you know, interested in being on Consumer NZ’s board? Board members are paid a modest fee and meet seven times a year split between Wellington and via remote links. Usually held the last Friday of the month. In 2024, we have two vacancies.

If you’re a Consumer member (through subscribing to Consumer magazine or consumer.org.nz). You’re also entitled to:

  • be nominated as a candidate for our board elections
  • nominate other members as candidates
  • attend our AGM and other special general meetings

We're looking for nominees with:

  • a concern for and knowledge of consumer-protection issues, and the welfare of consumers
  • no conflict with Consumer’s aims and objectives
  • experience or understanding of governance as a board member

We value a diverse range of experience on our board. In addition to the criteria above, we would be particularly interested in strategic thinkers with the following experience:

  • digital media
  • financial management
  • community development, particularly with Māori, Pasifika, Asian, youth and disability communities
  • consumer advocacy
  • sustainability knowledge
  • fundraising experience
  • data analytics
  • disputes resolution

How to make a nomination

Complete the form and email it to [email protected] or post to PO Box 932 Wellington 6140. Completed nomination forms must reach us by 3pm Monday 18 March 2024. For more information, contact the board secretary on 04 801 0404.

Digital and postal voting will begin in April. The results are announced at Consumer’s AGM on June 21, 2024. The three-year terms of those elected start then.
