2020 board nominations now open

We’re inviting our members to nominate board candidates.

Tick mark on voting ballot

Are you, or someone you know, interested in being on Consumer NZ’s board? Board members are paid a modest fee and meet seven times a year in Wellington, usually the last Friday of the month. This year, we have three vacancies.

If you’re a Consumer member (through subscribing to Consumer magazine or consumer.org.nz) you’re entitled to attend our AGM and other special general meetings. You’re also entitled to:

  • be nominated as a candidate for our board elections
  • nominate other members as candidates

We’re inviting our members to nominate candidates.

What we’re looking for

An independent consultant will select people from these nominations, using the following criteria:

  • a concern for and knowledge of consumer-protection issues, and the welfare of consumers
  • no conflict with Consumer’s aims and objectives
  • experience or understanding of governance as a board member

We value a diverse range of experience on our board. We would be particularly interested in strategic thinkers with the following experience:

  • digital media
  • financial management
  • community development, particularly with Maori, Pasifika, Asian, youth and disability communities
  • consumer advocacy
  • sustainability knowledge

How to make a nomination

You can get a nomination form by:

Complete the form and email it to Rouhollah@consumer.org.nz or post to PO Box 932 Wellington 6140. It must reach us by 5pm, Thursday 5 March 2020. For more information, contact the board secretary on 04 801 0404.

Voting papers for the board election are sent to magazine members in April. The results are announced at Consumer’s AGM in June and the three-year terms of those elected start then.
