Countdown claims its misleading ''special'' tags where there were no price reductions was due to ''simple human errors''.

The Commerce Commission is considering a complaint that Countdown supermarkets may be misleading shoppers with false "specials" labelled on products.

Consumer NZ chief executive Sue Chetwin said "specials" tags with a blank space under the section marked "savings" had been seen on four varieties of dog food at Countdown in Lower Hutt. Prices for the products were the same as the non-promotional price.
