Fossil Fuel Investment

It is only with pressure on the status quo that alternatives will evolve and that we will reduce the significant issues that come with continuing to invest in these areas.

Breakdown and return

For every dollar, or 100 cents that is put in what is the breakdown I mean actual break and what does that return in a breakdown please
And what part or is all the dollar or 100 cents put in is used to invest in your return....

The measurement of returns agasint fees

From the link Neil Gordon posted below to fund returns - https://cdn.morningstar.com.au/mca/s/documents/KiwiSaver_survey-2021Q1.pdf - there's something interesting to be seen. There doesn't seem to be a strong correlation between the fees charged and the returns made by the funds.

Wouldn't you expect the more expensive, active funds to make better returns...?

Where's Juno Kiwisaver?

It looks like they got left out this time but you should include Juno in your next survey. Excellent returns, moderate fees and good service. It's also an Active fund rather than a Passive fund.

Statistical significance

Whether a fund is included or not probably depends how many respondents Consumer gets for that fund. Too few respondents, and the reviews can't be relied on to be representative.

Finding out what's in your KiwiSaver fund

There is a new, easy and free way to find out where your money is invested. Go to mindfulmoney.nz and enter the name of your KiwiSaver fund and you will see how much is invested in fossil fuels, weapons, gambling, human rights violations, animal testing etc. It's quick, easy and free.

Re: Survey method

Hi Graeme,

Our data are from a nationally representative survey of 1941 New Zealanders, carried out in April and May 2021. Satisfaction ratings show the proportion of respondents who scored their KiwiSaver provider 8, 9 or 10 on a scale from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied).

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Frank - Consumer NZ staff

KiwiSaver returns on investment

Does the above report include analysis of each KiwiSaver providers return on investment performance? I was unable to find this vital information. Or is Kiwisavers return on investment covered in another report, or am I missing the point, or have I missed this vital information in this report. Happy to be advised.
