Two frozen yoghurt businesses have appeared in Auckland District Court facing charges brought by the Commerce Commission.
The commission alleges Yoghurt Story New Zealand Limited and Frozen Yoghurt Limited promoted frozen yoghurt products that do not contain yoghurt and made false claims about the health benefits of the product on the Yoghurt Story website.
Frozen Yoghurt Ltd is the parent company of Yoghurt Story, whose sole director is Taewoon Son.
The charges fall under the Fair Trading Act. The commission would not make further comment while the matter was before the court.
The Food Standards Code states fermented milk drinks and yoghurt products must contain at least a million live bacteria per gram.
