Click Monday, the Kiwi online shopping event based on Cyber Monday in the US, is on again next week.

Last year’s inaugural Click Monday saw 80 retailers brought together on a centralised website – clickmonday.co.nz - to offer online deals.

Shoppers find an offer on the Click Monday site and then click through to the retailer’s site to make their purchase.

Cate Bryant, one of two organisers behind the initiative, said last year shoppers clicked through to retailers’ websites 300,000 times.

“The offers were a big hit, with retailers selling as much as four to ten times their normal daily sales,” she said.

A whole hams deal caused problems for some when Countdown changed the price on those who had taken up the offer. The hams had initially been advertised at $8.99 but was changed to the intended price of $8.99/kg.

Ms Bryant said retailers were signing up to be part of Click Monday every day.

The event on 15 September will be followed up by another on 24 November.
