The problem

Applico Limited is recalling 2 models of Viking Gas Range ovens. Affected ovens can turn on by themselves and could burn you.

The affected oven models are VGIC3666BWH and VGSC5366BSS, sold at Kitchen Things stores between 2009 and 2015.

What to do

If you suspect you have one of these products, first check the model number. This can be found on a label in one of three locations:

  • on the bottom of the control panel above the door
  • on the front of the oven cavity below the control panel, or
  • on the inside of the left side panel, which can be seen by removing the left front grate and burner bowl.

You should only search for the model number when the range isn't hot.

If you do have a model which is affected, contact Applico Limited immediately and they will arrange for a technician to visit and fix your range free of charge. They can also advise on steps to take to keep using the range safely before the repair is carried out.
