The problem

Mediterranean Food Company has recalled a specific batch of its L’Isola D’Oro anchovy paste because the product contains an elevated level of histamine.

The anchovy paste can be identified by the following:

Product name: L’ Isola D’Oro Conserve Ittiche brand La Pasta di Acciughe (anchovy paste)
Date marking: Best Before: 11 07 2017 (appears as 'Best before end: see date printed on closure flap', which is 11 07 2017).

The product is sold as a tube in a 60g cardboard box, from the Mediterranean Food Company retail outlets in Christchurch and Rangiora.

What to do

Check the date marking printed on the closure flap of the cardboard box.

The affected product should not be consumed. If you have consumed any of this product and have concerns about your health, seek medical advice.

Return the product to Mediterranean Food Company for a full refund.
