The problem

Apple is recalling Beats Pill XL speakers because there is a risk they can overheat and cause a fire.

Details

The Beats Pill XL can be identified by the Beats “b” logo on the speaker grille and the words “beats pill XL” on the handle. The product is sold in 5 colours: black, metallic sky, pink, titanium and white.

What to do

Owners of Beats Pill XL speakers are being told by Apple to visit http://www.apple.com/nz/support/beats-pillxl-recall/ for details about how to return the product and get a refund. Apple has asked people not to take the speakers to stores that sell Beats products. However, under the Consumer Guarantees Act, New Zealand customers can take their product back to the store they bought it from as it is no longer of acceptable quality. The store is likely to need a receipt to prove it was purchased there.
