The problem

Britax Childcare (NZ) Ltd has recalled the chest clip for its B-Safe 35 infant car seats. The chest clip may release small parts during use which can pose a choking hazard.


Affected Britax B-Safe 35 Chest Clips were manufactured from 1 November 2015 - 31 May 2017 and supplied with the following products:

  • Britax B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat (Model #: E1A185M)
  • Britax B-Safe 35 Elite Infant Car Seat (Model #: E9LS56C, E9LS56L)

The Britax B-Safe 35 Chest Clip was sold from March 2016 - 22 June 2017 from the following retailers:

  • Baby On The Move
  • Baby Factory
  • Kidzclub
  • Little Buds
  • Treasured Cargo

What to do

Stop using your B-Safe infant car seat with the chest clip. If you own a B-Safe car seat, contact Britax (details below) to arrange a free remedy kit.

If your product was hired then contact the hire company for the fix.

Visit Britax’s website for video instructions on how to remove the clip.

You can keep using your infant car seat safely by removing the chest clip, or by monitoring the center tab of the chest clip for signs of breakage.
