The problem

Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) has recalled its Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicles equipped with Dynamic Power Steering. If the coupling splines on the steering rack strip, you could lose steering control.

Details

The 2013 model is affected and was sold at authorised BRP Can-Am side-by-side dealers from April 2012 to April 2016.

What to do

Stop driving your vehicle until it has been verified or repaired. If you have not received a recall letter, contact your BRP dealer to verify if your vehicle is affected.

BRP will repair your vehicle free of charge. They will write to you again when the parts become available, which should be at the end of June 2016.

Contact your BRP dealer and make an appointment to have your vehicle verified. Verification is a temporary action to allow limited use of your vehicle until the problem is fixed. If you choose to use your vehicle after its verification, you must respect the following:

  • Do not use at speeds above 50 km/h (30 MPH)
  • Do not ride on rough terrain

For more information, contact BRP on 0800 020 071 or your nearest authorised BRP Can-Am side-by-side dealer.
