The problem

European Foods Ltd has recalled specific batches of its Ghiotti mozzarella cheeses due to incorrect use-by dates. The products were imported from Italy and the dates applied to the products in New Zealand.

The following products with use-by dates 29/05/17, 04/06/17, 05/06/17 are affected:

  • Ghiotti Mozzarella Fior di Latte (125g)
    Batch marking: Lot: LZ7100N

  • Ghiotti Mozzarella Fior di Latte (200g)
    Batch marking: Lot: LZ7100S

  • Ghiotti Mozzarella Buffalo (125g)
    Batch marking: Lot: LF709 9F

  • Ghiotti Mozzarella Buffalo (200g)
    Batch marking: Lot: LF709 9F

  • Ghiotti Mozzarella Cherry (200g)
    Batch marking: Lot: 00172660

The products are sold in supermarkets throughout the North Island. They come in plastic tubs with various weights depending on the type of product.

What to do

Check the batch and use-by date printed on the lid of the products.

Affected products should not be consumed. If you have consumed any of these products and have any concerns about your health, seek medical advice.

Return the products to your retailer for a full refund.
