The problem

Giant Bicycle Co. Pty Ltd has recalled some of its Giant and Liv bicycles. The bikes do not meet the standards below:

  • maximum overall handlebar width should not exceed 700mm
  • requires a chain guard to prevent clothing/body parts getting trapped.

Details

The following models are affected:

  • Stance 2 - 2015, 2016, 2017: the handlebar width exceeds the maximum standard requirement

  • Embolden 2 - 2017 (small and medium sizes only): the handlebar width exceeds the maximum standard requirement

  • Tempt 1 - 2017: Bike is not fitted with a chain guard (all sizes) and the handlebar width exceeds the maximum standard (small and medium sizes only).

  • ToughRoad SLR 0 - 2017: bike is not fitted with a chain guard

What to do

Contact an authorised Giant retailer to arrange to have the handlebars on the bicycle modified and/or the necessary chain guide fitted.
