The problem

Kmart has recalled some of their metal chairs. The tapering of the inside bottom of the chair legs could trap or cut you. Other news sites have reported children’s toes getting caught in the legs and cut.

Details

Affected chairs were sold at Kmart stores between July 2014 – March 2016. They will have one of the following key codes on a sticker on the underside of the chair:

  • 42024699
  • 42024705
  • 42122609
  • 42127949

What to do

Contact Kmart on 0800 945 995 for a free plug kit to insert into the legs of the chairs. Once the plugs have been inserted, you can continue using the chairs safely.

The plugs will be available at Kmart stores, or by contacting our Kmart Customer Service team on or after 1 May 2016. You can also return your chairs for a full refund.

For more information, call Kmart Customer Service between 8.00am – 5.00pm, Monday - Friday, or visit the Kmart website.
