The problem

Sunbeam has recalled some of its Aeroglide Rapid SR6370 irons. Affected irons only have a single layer of insulation between the wiring and the top of the iron. This is not compliant with the New Zealand safety standard and could cause an electric shock.

Affected irons were sold from 11 January 2017 to 30 June 2017 and can be identified by the following:

  • Name: Sunbeam Aeroglide Rapid Iron with DimpleTech Soleplate
  • Model: SR6370
  • Type: 1128 2000 – 2400W
  • Date of manufacture: 5216 (no other date codes are affected)

The model number, type and the date code can be found on the white rating label on the heel of the iron.

What to do

Stop using the iron. To determine if your product is affected, contact Sunbeam's consumer services team using the details below, or visit its website. You can return your affected iron to Sunbeam for a full refund or higher value replacement.

For more information, contact Sunbeam on 0800 786 232 (Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 5pm) or email
